Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT), formerly known as Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT), is a premier state-level technical university in Delhi, India, dedicated to advancing education, research, and innovation in engineering, technology, sciences, and management. Established as a seat of higher technical education, NSUT focuses on fostering technical-scientific research that contributes to societal development. History and Establishment
NSUT traces its origins to 1983, when it was founded as the Delhi Institute of Technology (DIT) by the Government of the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi. In 1987, it was renamed Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT) in honor of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, the iconic Indian freedom fighter. Initially affiliated with the University of Delhi's Faculty of Technology, NSIT operated as an autonomous institution under the Government of NCT of Delhi.
A pivotal milestone came in 2018 with the enactment of the Delhi Netaji Subhas University of Technology Act, 2017 (Delhi Act 06 of 2018), passed by the Delhi Legislative Assembly on August 10, 2017. This upgraded NSIT to a full-fledged non-affiliating state university, effective September 26, 2018, renaming it Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT). Prof. Jai Prakash Saini was appointed as the Founder Vice-Chancellor, marking the institution's transition to greater autonomy in curriculum design, research, and governance. This elevation empowered NSUT to independently award degrees and expand its academic offerings beyond its Delhi roots.

As a state university under the Government of NCT of Delhi, NSUT is governed by the provisions of the 2017 Act, which emphasizes education and research in engineering, technology, sciences, humanities, social sciences, and management.
